The Shettigere Road widening update 2025 shows that it is under process and construction will begin soon. People living in the region can access the old road as of now, and the new road's project is under scrutiny. Located in the prime spot of North Bangalore, Shettigere is seeing rapid development in its infrastructure. Several new roads connecting and merging with the road are under construction.
As of late 2025, there is no official or separate announcement for the widening of Shettigere Road. Still, the area is a top locale with major infrastructure boosts in North Bangalore. The region is developing fast, and road upgrades are widely acknowledged as necessary.
The need for better infrastructure in Shettigere comes from major government and private projects:
Airport Expansion: The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) expansion, including the new Terminal 2, is bringing more passenger and cargo traffic, directly affecting connecting roads.
Aerospace and Tech Parks: Shettigere hosts the Aerospace SEZ and several tech parks. Companies like Boeing and Airbus are setting up operations, increasing the need for residential and office spaces.
Residential Mega-Townships: Top builders like Godrej Properties, Tata Housing, and Birla Estates are developing large townships in the Shettigere-Devanahalli belt, adding thousands of residents. The current narrow roads are insufficient for this growth.
Although there is no separate "Shettigere Road widening" project, several major projects will improve connectivity:
Namma Metro Blue Line: Phase 2B will link the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the airport. Doddajala station, a few km from Shettigere, will provide a fast and reliable commuting option, reducing private vehicle traffic.
Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR): This 280-km ring road will connect multiple satellite towns, including Shettigere, diverting long-distance traffic away from the city centre.
Peripheral Ring Road (PRR): This 8-lane road will connect major highways like NH44, improving travel between Shettigere and other city areas.
NH44 Upgrades: The NH44 (Bellary Road) is being widened and improved regularly. As Shettigere Road connects to NH44, these upgrades will benefit local traffic.
Current Reality: By late 2025, Shettigere Road and B.K. Halli Road experience heavy traffic and bottlenecks during peak hours. Present roads cannot handle current or future traffic effectively.
Anticipated Improvements: BBMP’s 2025-26 budget includes significant funds for road widening and development. Shettigere Road is indirectly included in plans to upgrade 118 roads. Land for projects will be acquired using Transferable Development Rights (TDR).
Private-Sector Initiatives: Builders are incorporating wider internal roads and better main road links in township master plans. Projects by Tata Housing and Birla Estates already include such designs.
A new project, Godrej MSR City , is launching in the area by Godrej Properties. It is an elite, high-end apartment township in Devanahalli, North Bangalore, covering 62 acres.
